Engaging students worldwide in direct, interactive learning and storytelling to build cross-cultural understanding
There are countless examples of businesses partnering with non-profits, but rarely is there the type of synergy created by common values and multi-layered engagement as that enjoyed by Getty Images and Bridges to Understanding. Getty Images’ support helps Bridges build cross-cultural understanding by engaging students worldwide in direct, interactive learning and storytelling.
Phil Borges, Founder, Bridges to Understanding
Getty Images believes in the power of imagery to communicate across cultures and to inspire positive change. To support Bridges to Understanding in their mission to use imagery as a catalyst for change, Getty Images provides free office space to Bridges in Seattle and a complete Media Management System tool to store and manage all of the organization's digital assets. In addition, Getty Images and Bridges are partnering on a project that will enable four Getty Images employees, one each from London, New York, Seattle and Sydney, to attend Bridges’ workshops in India, Peru, Guatemala or South Africa this year. The collaboration between these two companies will cover the travel and workshop fees for each of the four individuals; all of whom will donate vacation time to attend the workshops.
Chris Scott is the first Getty Images employee to donate his vacation time mentoring students in Bridges’ Cuzco, Peru workshop. While there, Chris will share his “workshop” experience on the Getty Images blog.
