INTRODUCTORY PHASE
Bridges to Understanding uses a three phase process for our projects.
In the first, the Introductory Phase, students learn to use photography for communication and to identify and convey cultural information through their photography, art and writing. As partner classes introduce themselves, they also explore their cultures. In this phase, students and teachers begin to determine the content of their studies, based on their discoveries about themselves and their partner classes. Basic photography skills are introduced during this phase, as well as camera care, journal writing, and basic media literacy. The goal of this phase is for classes to introduce themselves, to identify themselves, and to begin to understand the perspective of their partner class through the process. This is the beginning of the Bridges Digital Storytelling Process.
