SHARED LEARNING PHASE
Bridges to Understanding uses a three phase process for our projects.
In the second, the Shared Learning Phase, students begin to explore the content of their studies through a guided inquiry process. Because of the collaborative nature of this phase, the content is generative, that is, one question leads to another and students are encouraged to follow the questioning, using partners as primary resources for their investigations. In this way, the study experience becomes personal, and from the personal can grow a narrative for a digital story about a curricular topic. Students collect various media (photos, sound recordings, interviews, etc) during this phase. The goal of this phase is to explore a curricular topic from multiple perspectives and to take action which demonstrates learning as well as positively effects life on the planet. From insights gained, students map out and prepare to tell the story that emerges. This is essential to the Bridges Digital Storytelling Process.
