Stevenson Elementary is a located in Bellevue WA, just east of the city of Seattle. There are 582 students at Stevenson, from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. 58% of these students have a first language other than English. The school’s goal is to create an environment where students gain the skills to do well in middle school.
Twenty-five 5th grade students from Stevenson Elementary will be participating in this year’s project. Through a “community of inquiry,” students will work together to build bridges of understanding with other teachers and students. In the teachers words, the goal is to explore our “complex, interdependent world,” while “valuing our differences and embracing our common humanity.”
