FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR WORKSHOPS

Who usually attends our digital storytelling workshops?
We offer these classes for teachers, photographers (new and experienced), community volunteers and teens who want to learn how to create digital stories.  We further specialize in helping participants use these stories to facilitate engaging dialogue among youth in a classroom setting.

Where are your digital story telling classes taught?
We teach these classes at least four times a  year in Seattle and also offer international workshops where you can travel abroad and work with students and teachers at our partner sites in Washington State, Guatemala, Peru, India and South Africa.  See our Workshop Schedule page for details

Do I need to take a local class before I go on an international trip?
No. You can go on an international trip with us without first taking a local workshop. Some people prefer to attend a workshop first in order to become more familiar with our skill set, but many people attend our the trips with absolutely no prior experience with the tools, and they have a great experience. Everyone is welcome.

What is the difference between the local and international workshops? Our local workshops generally do not involve mentoring youth during the workshop, and international workshopsalways involve mentoring the youth in their respective communities.  The local workshops are very intense and focus on acquiring the technical skills of digital story telling, while the international workshops provide more time for developing photography and digital storytelling skills, as well as ample time mentoring the local youth and our teacher partners.
